With over 100 sites on the National Register of Historic Places, the town abounds with culture waiting to be explored. Many of the historic structures, such as the Beekman House, offer educational tours. The Jacksonville Trolley is a great way to see the town and get an overview of its historic landmarks.
Jacksonville’s famous performing arts festival features world-class musicians all summer long, showcasing the best of jazz, blues, country music, to name a few genres. Britt boasts its own full orchestra conducted by Maestro Teddy Abrams. In addition to providing fabulous fare and fine dining, Gogi’s Restaurant is located next door to Élan, a welcome convenience for our guests. The internationally-inspired cuisine is locally scourced, masterfully prepared and beautifully presented. Experience fine entrées, handcrafted cocktails, and decadent desserts. You won’t be disappointed. Gogi’s hours are Wednesday through Saturday. Élan will gladly assist with dinner reservations.

Each guest suite offers complimentary fresh ground and award winning coffee from the local roasters, located at Elan’s opposite corner in the historic Table Rock Billiard Saloon building. This is Élan’s version of a continental breakfast to be enjoyed in your suite or amongst the local color at one of Jacksonville’s favorite meeting places.

Élan’s prime location offers guests easy access to over 16 miles of forest trails around Jackson Creek and Britt Gardens, which border 255 acres of woodland habitat and conserved land. These trails provide a wealth of information and entertainment, including an interpretive self-guided tour, a native plant arboretum, and local historic sites.
Jacksonville’s cemetery was dedicated in 1860, the same year the city was incorporated. The cemetery holds the remains of a variety of religious and ethnic groups. Many of the early pioneers who built Jacksonville are buried on this hilltop. The Friends of Jacksonville’s Historic Cemetery is a society which actively supports the preservation of the cemetery through education, tours, and annual fundraisers such as the Meet the Pioneers event each fall.
